The Worcester College Commemoration Ball 2011

The marquees and ropes have all been taken down, rubbish piled into the skips and the glass champagne, beer and wine bottles recycled, all that is left to show that the college held a ball on Friday night are a few hundred chairs and hired items waiting to be collected.

To see the setting up of the ball and what happened that night click on the following link to see 2.44 minutes of amazing time lapse photography:

Enjoy, you may even see a gardener walking past the camera, it took a picture every 30 seconds!

  1. From the production company's point of view - 4 days of work went into the ball, with over 10 staff on site at some points. We used about 2KM of 16A cable, 0.5KM of 32A 3-Phase cable, countless lights, distribution boards and plug sockets. And the whole lot came out in just under 10 hours I'm told. By this point I was back at home in bed after doing a 23 hour shift and a drive back to Bristol!
A big thanks to all the Grounds staff at the college from us, and to Phil the tree surgeon for his assistance in "flying" a lot of our cables to reduce the number of trip hazards!
As for the timelapse, those of you interested will like to know it was taken using a frame every 30 seconds on a Nikon D200 DSLR using a AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G Lens. Sadly I'd left the autofocus on, and it goes out of focus slightly before the end when it loses light from the stage to AF, will try and make sure I pop it on manual next time!
And finally a big thank you to the Students and Comittee, without which we wouldn't have the opportunity to do this sort of work!
