A Bright and Cheerful Border In The Corner

June 2015

The border at the bottom of the quad is full of soft pastel colours but, as you make your way through the top archway that leads to the Nuffield lawn, the border in the corner greets you with cheerful, bright yellows and oranges. The three iron crates and their contents, the succulent Aeonium arboreum Schwarzkopf, were so dominant when the border was first planted out in early June have almost disappeared amongst the display.

August 2015
For the display the annuals grown from seed are Rudbeckia hirta 'Cappucino', Antirrhinum majus 'Black Prince', Antirrhinum majus 'Royal Bride', Nicotiana langsdorffii, Tagetes tenuifolia 'Paprika', Rudbeckia hirta 'Toto', Zinnia marylandica 'Zahara Sunburst', Alonsoa meridionalis, Panicum elegans 'Frosted Explosion', Zinnia elegans 'Envy Double' and Mina lobata. The plants grown from cuttings are Pelargonium tomentosum, Abutilon x hybridum 'Waltz' and Eupatorium capillifolium.
