Potting Shed Update

Following on from the last post about the building of the new potting shed, see blog entry 'It Now Looks Like A Shed', 19th October 2012, here is an update for you. As can be seen by the photograph above a considerable amount of work has been done on the interior. The walls have been insulated, boarded and painted white, the base bricks rendered and electricity connected for the lighting. The potting area has been built consisting of a compost mixing area in the far corner, a large potting up area in the middle and a tray shelf nearest to the door for easy access to the glasshouse. The project continues, watch out for future updates.

  1. Hello, from Alabama- : )
Nice shed! It's nice to see what's going on through the blog. I hope all is well with all of you. It's a strangely warm fall here so far but should cool down next week. We have final exams next week and finish up the term next Friday. (Oh, yeah!)
Our football team, (not real football, I know), plays for the national championship on January 7. It's been fun to follow.
We think of everyone often. All the best from here!
    Happy Holidays to you, Allen

  2. I would be interested in due course to hear about the composts you use. I have happy memories of mixing John Innes No 2 compost with Askham Bryan horticultural students. In my early days at Hartlepool Parks dept we measured out in bushels!

    1. Hello Roger, thank you for your question. We used to use 'Goundreys', a local compost firm until they closed. Now we make a mix from 'Petersfield Growing Mediums Professional Range, No 2 Potting Supreme' and 'John Innes Compost No 1,ocassionally adding horticultural grit depending on the type of plants we are potting up. For seeds we use 'Petersfield Universal Supreme'. No bushels though, tip it out on the potting bench, get your hands in and mix!regards Ali
